Enrolment & Transition
Your journey begins here. We’re committed to making every step of your child’s enrolment and room transitions smooth, supportive, and filled with care.
Your Enrolment Journey
At Daisy Lane Early Learning, we’ve designed our enrolment process to be simple, transparent, and supportive. Here’s what to expect as you join our community.
Enquire & Book a Tour
Begin your journey by contacting us to express your interest. We’ll invite you to book a tour of our centre, where you can meet our educators, see our facilities, and experience the warm, nurturing environment where your child will learn and grow. During your visit, we’ll discuss your child’s needs, your family’s requirements, and answer any questions you may have.
Apply for Child Care Subsidy
Before your child starts, register for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) through myGov/Centrelink. This ensures you can access government support to help with childcare fees. You’ll need to:
- Obtain your child’s Customer Reference Number (CRN)
- Lodge a CCS claim through Services Australia
- Complete this at least 28 days before your child’s start date for maximum backdating eligibility
Receive Your Enrolment Offer
Once a place becomes available that suits your needs, we’ll contact you with a verbal offer, followed by an email with full details. You’ll have the opportunity to accept or decline the placement. If you accept, we’ll guide you through the next steps to secure your child’s place in our community.
Complete Enrolment Documentation
Once you’ve accepted your offer, you’ll receive an enrolment link to complete all necessary paperwork. We’ll need:
- Completed enrolment form with your child’s details
- Your child’s birth certificate
- Immunisation history statement (from Medicare/myGov)
- Medicare card details
- Custody arrangements (if applicable)
- Medical action plans (for allergies, asthma, or other conditions)
- Authorised persons for collection
- Emergency contact information
Please note: All documentation must be completed and submitted within 48 hours of receiving the enrolment link. We’re here to assist if you need help with any forms or have questions about the requirements.
Confirm Your Enrolment
After we receive your completed documentation, you’ll need to confirm your child’s enrolment through your myGov/Centrelink account. This is essential for CCS payments to commence. We’ll guide you through this process to ensure everything is in order before your child’s first day.
Orientation & Stay-and-Play Sessions
We understand that starting early learning is a significant transition for both children and families. We offer multiple orientation sessions to help your child settle comfortably:
- Meet your child’s educators and room leader
- Explore the learning environment together
- Learn about daily routines, meal times, and rest periods
- Discuss your child’s interests, temperament, and individual needs
- Practice separation and reunion strategies
- Ask questions and address any concerns
We encourage families to attend at least two orientation sessions, with additional visits available based on your child’s needs. This gradual introduction helps children feel secure and confident in their new environment.
Your Child's First Day!
The big day has arrived! Our caring educators will welcome your child with open arms, ready to support them through their first day and beyond. We maintain open communication throughout the settling-in period, keeping you informed of your child’s experiences and encouraging you to call, email, or visit whenever you need reassurance.
Important: Your child must physically attend on their first booked day to ensure CCS payments commence. Absences before the first attended session are not covered by the subsidy.
Immunisation Requirements
In accordance with Queensland Government requirements, all children must be age-appropriately immunised to enrol at Daisy Lane Early Learning. We require current immunisation records during the enrolment process, and families must update these records as immunisations are completed.
Your child’s immunisation history statement can be obtained through your Medicare online account or by contacting the Australian Immunisation Register.
Big Connections,
Big Heart
As your child grows and develops, they’ll transition between our carefully designed learning environments. We approach these transitions with sensitivity, ensuring each child moves at their own pace with plenty of support along the way.
Nursery: 6 weeks – 2 years
A calm, nurturing space where babies develop trust, security, and early learning foundations through responsive care and gentle exploration.
Toddlers: 2 – 3 years
An engaging environment that encourages independence, language development, and social skills through play-based experiences.
Junior Kindy: 3 years
A program designed to build confidence, creativity, and early learning skills as children prepare for more structured education.
Pre Kindy: 4 years
Focused learning experiences that develop school readiness skills, including early literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving abilities.
Kindergarten: 4 – 5 years
Our approved kindergarten program is delivered by qualified teachers, providing comprehensive school readiness and a smooth transition to primary school.
Individual Readiness Assessment
We carefully observe each child’s developmental progress, social skills, independence, and readiness for new challenges. Transitions occur when your child demonstrates they’re ready for the next learning environment, not based on age alone.
Family Partnership
Your input is invaluable. We’ll discuss your child’s progress and upcoming transitions with you, addressing any questions or concerns. Together, we’ll create a transition plan that supports your child’s individual needs and your family’s preferences.
Gradual Transition Process
Children participate in several visit sessions to their new room before the official transition. These visits allow them to meet new educators, explore the space, and build familiarity whilst maintaining the security of their current room.
Information Sharing
Once you’ve accepted your offer, you’ll receive an enrolment link to complete all necessary We ensure continuity of care by sharing detailed information about your child’s routines, interests, developmental progress, and individual needs with their new educators. This helps maintain consistency and security during the transition.
Open Communication
Throughout the transition period, we maintain close communication with families. We’ll keep you informed of your child’s progress, celebrate their achievements, and address any challenges together as they settle into their new environment.
Settling-In Support
After transitioning, we continue to monitor your child’s adjustment and provide additional support as needed. Our educators are experienced in helping children navigate changes and will work closely with you to ensure a positive experience.
Supporting Your Child's Transition at Home
You can help prepare your child for room transitions by:
- Talking positively about the upcoming change and their new room
- Reading books together about growing up and trying new experiences
- Visiting the new room together during drop-off or pick-up times
- Discussing new routines and what to expect in their next learning environment
- Maintaining consistent home routines during the transition period
- Celebrating their growth and readiness for new challenges
Transition to Primary School
Preparing children for their next big adventure is one of our greatest joys. Our kindergarten program is specifically designed to ensure children feel confident, capable, and excited about starting school.
School Readiness Programme
Our approved kindergarten curriculum focuses on developing essential school readiness skills, including early literacy, numeracy, social competence, emotional regulation, and independence in self-care.
School Visit Preparation
We support families in preparing for school visits and orientation days, discussing what to expect and helping children understand the exciting changes ahead whilst maintaining their sense of security.
Qualified Teachers
Our kindergarten programme is delivered by qualified early childhood teachers who understand the Australian Curriculum and work closely with local primary schools to ensure a smooth transition.
Ongoing Connections
Even after children transition to school, they remain part of our Daisy Lane family. Many visit during school holidays to reconnect with their favourite educators and share their school experiences with us.
